‘Spreading the love’: Buc-ee’s begins plans for world domination

Must read

Over the past few years, Texas-based Buc-ee’s has spread across the southeastern United States, adding locations in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Kentucky, with plans for at least one Louisiana travel center. But in the process, the Beaver Nuggets-slinging chain hasn’t dared to venture north.

Not until late last week.

Last Thursday, February 23, the company unveiled plans to open its first store in Wisconsin, the first Buc-ee’s in a northern state and what could be the beginning of a nationwide — or global — takeover of the rest stop business.

At a meeting for the DeForest, Wisconsin, Village Board last week, Buc-ee’s Real Estate Director Stan Beard unveiled plans for a 74,000-square-foot Buc-ee’s store with 120 gas pumps, more than 600 parking spaces, and 20 electric vehicle chargers.

“We’re just now spreading the love into the rest of the world,” Beard said.

At the meeting, Beard showed a concept for the location and images of the interior of other locations, including shots of brisket, breakfast sandwiches, Buc-ee’s merchandise, and more.
